An t-Eilean Muileach
Mull's "National Anthem" is An t-Eilean Muileach
(The Isle of Mull), written and composed by Dugald MacPhail (1818-87).
The English words are by Malcolm MacFarlane.
Felix Mendelssohn
Mendelssohn was inspired to write his well-known overture
The
Hebrides after visiting Staffa. He is believed to have spent a
night in Tobermory whilst on a tour of the Highlands.
The annual Mendelssohn on Mull festival commemorates his connection with
the islands.
